Why Buy a Canadian Horse?

Our decision to purchase Canadian Horses was made after many hours of research about the breed.

The Canadian Horse is known for it's hardiness, versatility and beauty.  We have found that our horses have lived up to those standards and more.

There is no need to supplement this breed with expensive feed additives or even oats. On good quality hay or pasture, they  flourish.

We can't say enough about their solid feet. Thus the term " Iron Horse".  My husband does our farrier work and I can hear some colorful language on  days he trims their rock solid feet.  With 1/4 to 1/2 inch hoof walls it takes strength to trim a Canadian's hoof.

Our main reason for choosing the Canadian breed is for their versatility. We train our horses for harness and saddle. We enjoy the fact the horses can be used in any discipline. Our horses are used for hauling logs out of  the woods, in the buggy for a parade, trail riding  or doing basic dressage in the riding ring.

After many years of training horses, I have found the Canadian horse to be  confident and intelligent. With proper ground training, these young horses are eager to learn and start in harness and saddle. They show great  endurance and stamina.

And finally we cannot ignore the beauty these horses display. I am in awe as I watch these noble horses galloping in the fields with their flowing manes and tails. I am proud to own part of Canada's Heritage.
